Rejoice Shumba-Mtisi
Group Director

Rejoice is a passionate advocate for social enterprises, community development, and early childhood development.  With a wealth of experience and a drive for results, she is a motivated, resourceful, and goal-orientated leader who excels at managing multiple projects.

As an astute and internationally-experienced PhD holder in Sociology, Rejoice brings a solid foundation of knowledge and expertise to her role.  Her areas of specialisation encompass strategic management, team leadership, organisational management, socio-economic development research, entrepreneurship, academic lecturing, writing, and publishing.  Her qualifications and experience make her a well-rounded professional capable of contributing to diverse aspects of Siyakholwa’s operations.

In her capacity as Group Director, Rejoice is deeply committed to empowering communities and individuals to achieve independence and unlock their full potential.  She has successfully led teams of varying sizes and has developed a strong skills-set in strategic management within the non-profit sector and social enterprises.

Her expertise extends to project co-ordination, project management, human resources management, and organisational development, allowing her to effectively drive growth and impact of the businesses she serves.

Odwa Njoba
Programme Lead

Odwa is a dedicated and committed professional who embarked on his career journey with Siyakholwa in 2006.  He has spent more than 15 years in the business, continually growing and evolving, both as an individual and a leader.

During his tenure from 2007 to 2009, Odwa served as a Project Manager for the Unilever Paprika Project which was funded by the Development Bank of South Africa and operated at the Zanyokwe Irrigation Scheme, where he excelled in project planning, management, and community facilitation.

For more than 8 years Odwa assumed the role of Operations Manager, where he effectively liaised with municipal stakeholders across 8 municipalities.  His key responsibilities involved the co-ordination of the COGTA Community Work Programme which employed more than 7,500 participants.

Odwa holds a Diploma in Cost Management Accounting, complimented by additional qualifications in project management, community leadership, and a contractor’s course.

He has also successfully completed a course in Innovation in Public Employment, demonstrating his commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

With his extensive experience, expertise, and unwavering dedication, Odwa has made significant contributions to Siyakholwa and the communities it serves.  His diverse skills set and passion for community upliftment make him a valuable asset and a compassionate leader.

Samuel Ngoma
Gauteng Branch Manager & SmartStart Coach

Samuel Ngoma is a visionary figure whose journey from the Muldersdrift area of the West Rand in the early 1960s has been nothing short of remarkable.  Despite starting his primary school years at the age of 13, Samuel defied the odds by completing his entire schooling within an impressive seven years.  His path initially led him to the world of banking, where he excelled as a teller at the then Barclays Bank, dedicating a decade to honing his skills in the financial sector.

However, Samuel’s appetite for growth and change led him to a dynamic shift into property management, sales, and development.  Over the next 8 years, he embraced this new phase of his journey, leveraging his exceptional abilities in negotiation, leadership, and innovation.

Yet, Samuel’s pursuit of excellence did not stop there.  Driven by an insatiable curiosity, he expanded his horizons through education and training in diverse fields.  As a business manager and social auxiliary worker, he added new dimensions to his already impressive skillset, solidifying his commitment to lifelong learning and his desire to impact various sectors of society.

Beyond personal accomplishments, Samuel Ngoma’s story is about making a tangible difference.  As the Chairperson of the Bethany House Trust, he demonstrated an unwavering responsibility toward those in need, exemplifying compassion and dedication.  His role as a club coach of the SmartStart Early Learning Programme showcases his commitment to fostering the growth and development of the next generation.

Tafara Shuro
Executive Team Member

Tafara is a passionate advocate for community empowerment, firmly believing in the transformative power of making a positive impact in the lives of others.  With a rich background in community development and training spanning several years, Tafara joined Siyakholwa in 2010, and has since been actively engaged in projects dedicated to alleviating poverty and fostering entrepreneurship among youth and adults.

As a valued member of the leadership team, Tafara currently serves as the manager of Qobo Qobo Essential Oils Incubator, in this role he brings visionary and strategic leadership to the team, ensuring the successful establishment and sustainable growth of businesses that uplift communities.

Tafara’s passion for creating opportunities and equipping individuals to thrive is at the heart of his work.  He is dedicated to equipping aspiring entrepreneurs with the skills and resources they need to generate income, fostering a spirit of self-reliance and self-sufficiency within the communities he serves.

With his strong leadership acumen and commitment to driving social change, Tafara exemplifies the values and mission of Siyakholwa.
